History – The Usma Manor estate was once home to a fishing village with small cottages. With the onset of the German era, the village fell into decline and the manor house was built.
In the first decades of the 18th century, members of the von der Brigen (Bruggen) family became the owners of Usma Manor.
Usma Manor was a crown (state) manor. It was surrounded by peasant farmsteads. At one time, Usma Manor boasted an entire complex of buildings—a residential building, a granary, barns, and stables. Over the years, the granary building was used both as offices for the forestry administration and a store, as well as a poorhouse.
The stable and the granary have survived to this day and now house the “Usmas muiža” spa hotel.
The “Usmas muiža” SPA Hotel is a family-run business that welcomed its first guests on August 1, 2020.
